1: Step
Mounting on the tree
Attach and fill the bag
Place the tree bath around the tree trunk* and then close the zip. If necessary, attach the lock now. Push the water hose** deep into the opening of the tree bath.
Then fill the tree bath with approx. 5-10 litres of water and then gently shake it*** using the black loops. This is important so that the drip holes do not become blocked and the water can drain out of the bag.
Then fill the bag completely. Alternatively, the drip holes can also be opened with a handle**** in the crease on the left and right (video below).
* (for tree trunks with a circumference of max. 30 cm)
** (not included in the scope of delivery)
*** (for water hoses with a circumference of up to 4 inches)
**** (do not lift)
1) Place the bag around the trunk
then
3) Fill with water
2) Tighten the zip

The tree watering bags are designed so that water drips out of two holes at the lower folds. These holes are one on the left and one on the right. If these are not positioned correctly by shaking them up when filling, the water will run off more slowly than in 6 to 9 hours.
Please watch the video again to see how to shake the bags correctly.
Solutions if emptying is too slow:
1) Check whether the material is perhaps slightly stuck together at these points and try tugging there once.
2) Could it be that the bags are in a hollow/cavity around the tree?
around the tree? If so, please check whether the material closes the holes in this position. The holes can then be cleared by gently tugging. We show you how to do this in the following video.

How tree bags work - application, setting up, securing and filling
What is a tree watering bag? How do I fill it? What do I need to bear in mind when using it? How can I secure it against theft? What is drip irrigation? What are the advantages of watering with a tree watering bag? In this video, we answer all these questions about the baumbad tree watering bag. We show you how easy it is to water with a watering bag and what you should bear in mind when using it in order to achieve optimum watering results and give your trees the best possible support.
Attach anti-theft device
Attach the padlock through the eyelets after closing the zip and fill the bag CONCLUSIVELY. Never attach or remove the padlock from a filled bag!
To avoid damage, please note the lock size!
Lock size: shackle height of at least 50 mm and shackle diameter of max. 6 mm
Simply connect several irrigation bags with the zip fastener
Trunk too thick?
Bag individually free standing
Bag individually free standing
There may not be enough tree bags to connect a thick tree in the combination. A similar problem is caused by branches and ramifications that are located where the irrigation bag is normally placed around the tree. In such a case, the bag can also be placed next to the tree to be watered. The best way to do this is with a wooden pole, bamboo pole or metal rod. This must be inserted into the ground without damaging larger roots. The tree bag is already very stable on its own and only needs a little support.
Connect bag - trunk circumference greater than 30 cm
Connect bag - trunk circumference greater than 30 cm
1) Connect 2 baumbad irrigation bags on one side with the zip fastener
Trunk circumference greater than 60 cm means connecting 3 bags
Trunk circumference greater than 60 cm means connecting 3 bags
1) Connect three baumbad watering bags on one side with the zip fastener.
2) Place the connected bags around the tree and close the remaining zip.
3) Fill the bags as described in the instructions
Old trees with a circumference of more than 90 cm
Old trees with a circumference of more than 90 cm
Several watering bags are only required for older trees with a circumference of more than 90 cm. These can be joined together using the clever zip fastener solution. Branches and ramifications that are located where the irrigation bag is normally placed around the tree present a similar problem. In such cases, the bags can also be placed next to the tree to be watered. The best way to do this is with a wooden pole, bamboo pole or metal rod. This must be inserted into the ground without damaging larger roots. The tree bag is already very stable on its own and only needs a little support.

Application notes
Do not attach to the black loops or hang up!
The loops are only intended for shaking the bag. When shaking the bag, it may only be lifted slightly. It is forbidden to lift the bag from the ground!
Only use clean water
Dirt particles can block the irrigation openings of the baumbad. If no clean water is available, it must be filtered through a cloth at the end of the hose! Each bag also has a dirt collection basin installed. To empty this, regularly empty the residual water in the bag through the filler opening. To do this, hold the bag upside down.
The filled bag should neither be opened by the zip nor transported
A filled bag weighs between 75 kg and 100 kg. Such a weight cannot be held by the PVC and PE material. The material would tear and the bag would be defective.
Do not tear or enlarge the filler opening!
If you want to use your tree watering bags for many years, you should also never do the following:
- Clean the bags with sharp objects
- Do not remove the bags from the tree for several months at a time
- Never pour out the residual water in the bag
- Use stale water with algae from ponds
- Clean the bags with high temperature and pressure
- Leave the bags on the tree even during storms, hail, frost and snow
- Drill/pierce more holes in the bags yourself
- Place the bags on sharp objects
When using liquid fertilisers, mix them with the water before filling.
Depending on which fertiliser is used, it may attack the material. In addition to diluting with water, we also recommend using organic liquid fertiliser. This works well with a watering can. The mixed fertiliser can then be added to the water in the bag using the watering can via the filler opening.
Store when not in use. To do this, remove the bag from the trunk, clean, dry and store in a dry place.
Check tree trunk regularly and allow tree to breathe
Remove the bag from time to time in the event of persistent humidity and tropical weather conditions to prevent mould growth or ant nests. The tree should be aired out at the location of the bag from time to time.

What is drip irrigation for trees?
What is drip irrigation for trees?
Drip irrigation is a watering method in which the water is released drop by drop into the soil over a long period of time in a very resource-saving manner. This allows the water to penetrate deep into the soil and reach the roots of the tree particularly well, which means that the tree can be optimally supplied with water.to the article: Drip irrigation in detail
How can you recognise drought stress in trees?
How can you recognise drought stress in trees?
If growth is delayed during the growing season, i.e. the shoots are very short or the leaves very small, these are clear signs of drought stress.
How do you recognise that a tree needs water?
How do you recognise that a tree needs water?
In spring and summer, drooping and wilting leaves, leaf fall and stunted growth (very short shoots) are clear signs that a tree urgently needs water.
How much water does a tree need on average?
How much water does a tree need on average?
There is no generalised answer to this question. It depends on many factors, such as the tree species, the size of the tree, the location, the soil conditions, etc.
But there is a rule of thumb:
A medium-sized tree needs 150-200 litres per watering cycle.
I.e. two fillings of a Baumbad irrigation bag or one filling of two interconnected irrigation bags.
How can urban trees be supported during drought?
How can urban trees be supported during drought?
Water 1-2 times a week with a larger amount of water. recommendation: 150-200 litres = 2-3 fillings of a tree bath watering bag per watering. in addition, you can help urban trees very well by loosening the upper soil layers in order to break up the strong compaction of the soil in cities. This often means that when watering or when it rains, the water cannot penetrate the soil to reach the roots of the tree at all, but simply runs off superficially.
What is a tree watering bag?
What is a tree watering bag?
A tree watering bag is the ideal watering aid for trees. The bag is placed around the trunk like a jacket, closed with a zip and then filled with water. This saves you water, time and money and makes you a #treesaver
Perhaps you have already seen the tree sacks in your town.
Why are these bags attached to the tree? Let us briefly explain: "Climate change has continuously altered the climate in recent years. It has tended to become warmer in Europe as a result, and rainfall has also decreased. All in all, it is now demonstrably drier. As a result, many plants and trees are suffering from a lack of water. The green bags on the trees are irrigation bags that are used to support the tree. They save both water resources and time when watering. Which benefits the environment, the tree and people."
